African Animal Silhouettes

Supplies:

  • A4 white paper or light card

  • Watercolour or acrylic paints (reds, oranges, yellows)

  • Paintbrushes or sponges

  • A cup of water & paper towels

  • Pre-printed / Cut animal and tree silhouettes

  • Scissors

  • Glue sticks

  • Black paint for drawing ground or adding extra silhouettes

🎨 Steps:

1. Paint the Sunset Background

  • Start with yellow at the bottom of the page and blend upward into orange and then red at the top.

  • Use a brush or sponge to blend the colours smoothly.

  • Let the paint dry completely before moving on.

2. Create the Ground Area

  • Once the sunset is dry, paint a strip of black (or dark brown) across the bottom for the ground.

  • Alternatively, you can draw a hilly silhouette with a black marker or paintbrush.

3. Cut and Prepare Silhouettes

  • Cut out pre-printed animal and tree silhouettes (elephants, giraffes, lions, acacia trees, etc.)

  • Older kids can do this themselves; younger ones may need pre-cut shapes.

4. Glue the Silhouettes On

  • Arrange the animals and trees on top of the black ground area so they stand out against the sunset sky.

  • Glue them down securely.
