Blindfolded Obstacle Course

Supplies

  • Blindfolds (scarves, bandanas, or sleep masks)

  • Cones, chairs, hula hoops, pool noodles, or soft objects to create obstacles

  • Open space (hall, field, or large room)

  • Optional: stopwatch for timed runs

Steps

  1. Set up a safe obstacle course using cones, hoops, chairs, ropes, or other equipment. Include things to step over, go around, duck under, or zigzag through.

  2. Pair children into teams — one will be blindfolded, and the other will be the guide.

  3. The guide must give verbal instructions only to help their partner navigate the course without touching them (e.g. “Step left,” “Take 3 steps forward,” “Careful — duck!”).

  4. Once complete, have partners switch roles and go again.

  5. Optional: run it as a team relay or see who can complete it in the fastest time.

Other Information

  • Emphasise safety: use only soft or stable objects, and ensure the space is free of hazards.

  • Encourage positive, supportive guiding — this is about teamwork, not competition.

  • You can theme the course (e.g. jungle adventure, space walk, spy mission) to tie in with your weekly theme.
