Cat in the Hat Stack
Supplies:
Red paper cups
White paper cups
Timer or stopwatch
Steps:
Split children into small groups or have them play individually.
Give each group an equal number of red and white cups.
On “Go!”, players stack cups in alternating red and white layers to create the “Cat in the Hat” look.
The aim is to build the tallest stable tower possible within 1 minute.
If the tower falls, they can quickly rebuild until time is up.
Measure or count the cups in the tallest complete stack to find the winner.
Other Information:
For younger kids: remove the colour rule and just stack any order.
For older kids: add a rule that they must alternate colours perfectly or the stack doesn’t count.
Indoors is best to avoid wind knocking over the cups.
