Supplies
Air-dry clay (enough for each child to make a disc)
Rolling pins or smooth bottles
Circular cutters (cups, lids, or cookie cutters)
Clay tools (or popsicle sticks/toothpicks for carving designs)
Gold paint (acrylic or poster paint)
Paintbrushes
Glitter, sequins, or gems (optional)
Table covers & aprons
Steps
Give each child a ball of air-dry clay.
Help them roll it out to about 1 cm thick.
Use a cutter (cup or lid) to make a neat circle.
Using tools (or sticks), children carve patterns — rays, faces, zigzags, and geometric Inca-style designs.
Set discs aside to dry completely (usually 24–48 hours).
Once dry, children paint the discs gold.
Optionally, add glitter, gems, or sequins for extra shine.
Display the sun discs together as a “Wall of Suns.”
