Supplies
Black card or thick paper (A4 cut in half works well)
White crayons, chalk markers, or gel pens (to write on black card)
Ruler (for neat lines)
Split pins/brads (for the moving top piece)
Extra piece of white or striped paper for the clapper top (optional)
Scissors
Glue/tape
Steps
Base Board: Give each child a rectangle of black card – this will be the clapperboard base.
Lines & Sections: Using a ruler and white pen/chalk, draw horizontal lines to create sections: Scene, Take, Director, Camera, Date.
Clapper Top: Cut a thinner strip of card (about 4–5cm wide) for the top “clap” piece. Decorate with black/white diagonal stripes (kids can colour these on or glue on white strips).
Attach: Fix the clapper top to the main board using a split pin on one side so it can open/close.
Personalise: Kids write their name as “Director” and fill in their scene details or movie title.
Action!: Once finished, kids can use their clapperboards during filming to start their scenes with a real Hollywood vibe.
