Supplies
Green cellophane squares (cut into “emeralds”)
Chopsticks (1 set per child)
Bowls or cups (to collect emeralds)
Timer (optional, for timed rounds)
Table space or floor area
Steps
Scatter the green cellophane pieces (emeralds) across a table or floor.
Give each child a pair of chopsticks and a small bowl or cup.
On “Go!”, children must pick up as many emeralds as they can using only chopsticks.
Continue until all emeralds are collected, or set a time limit (e.g., 1 minute).
Count each child’s emeralds to find the winner.
Variations
Team relay: Teams take turns picking emeralds, one child at a time.
Challenge mode: Add obstacles like spreading emeralds further apart or making them smaller.
Beginner option: Use tongs instead of chopsticks for younger children.
