Title: How to Make Felt Finger Puppets
Supplies Needed:
1. Felt sheets in various colors
2. Scissors
3. Glue or hot glue gun
4. Googly eyes
5. Markers or fabric paint
6. Yarn (for hair, optional)
7. Sewing materials (needle and thread, optional)
Instructions:
1. Cut Out Puppet Shape: First, draw or trace a simple finger puppet shape on a piece of felt, ensuring it's large enough to fit a finger. Cut two of this shape out of the felt.
2. Decorate Your Puppet: Using the markers or fabric paint, create a face on one of the puppet shapes. Glue googly eyes if you have them. If you're making an animal, you can cut out additional shapes like ears, tails, or wings from different colored felt and attach them as well.
3. Attach the Puppet Pieces: Once your puppet is decorated and dry, apply glue around the edges of the blank side of the puppet shape, making sure to leave the bottom open for your finger to fit in. Carefully place the second puppet shape on top of the first, pressing the edges together so they stick. If you prefer to sew, you can stitch the edges instead of using glue.
4. Let It Dry: Allow the puppet to dry completely. Make sure the glue is dry before children start playing with their new puppet.
5. Repeat: Repeat these steps for as many puppets as desired. Encourage creativity and make a variety of characters to make a whole puppet set.
Remember to supervise children during this activity, particularly when using scissors or a hot glue gun. This craft encourages creativity and storytelling. The children can even put on a puppet show after their puppets are complete!
