Game: Dragon’s Treasure

Overview:

The children become brave royal adventurers sneaking up to steal treasure from a fearsome (but fun) dragon, without being caught!

Supplies:

  • A collection of “treasures” (beanbags, gold coins, plastic gem

    s, soft toys, etc.)

  • A chair or mat (the dragon's "lair")

  • Optional: dragon costume, wings, or mask for extra drama!

  • Setup:

  • Place the treasure pile in the middle of the play area — this is the dragon’s hoard.

  • One child (or a staff member) is the dragon and sits or stands guarding the treasure, eyes closed (or turned around).

  • The rest of the children line up at the edge of the play area.

How to Play:

  1. On your signal, the children sneak toward the treasure quietly.

  2. At any moment, the dragon can turn around suddenly and roar or shout, “WHO GOES THERE?!”

  3. If the dragon catches someone moving, that child must return to the start.

  4. If a child makes it to the treasure unnoticed, they grab one piece of treasure and sneak back to their team.

  5. Play continues until all the treasure is gone — or swap dragons to give everyone a turn.

🏆Winning:

  • The goal is to collect as many treasures as possible without getting caught.

  • This game focuses on stealth, fun, and giggles — not competition.

💡 Variations:

  • For younger kids: Let them all take turns grabbing treasure without eliminations.

  • For older kids: Add rules like “freeze like a statue” when the dragon turns.

  • Add background music for dramatic tension — and pause it when the dragon turns!
