Method
1. Cream butter and sugar
In a bowl, mix the softened butter and sugar until light and creamy.
2. Add wet ingredients
Add the egg and vanilla. Mix well until combined.
3. Add dry ingredients
Add the flour and baking powder. Stir until a soft dough forms. If dough is sticky, add a small amount of extra flour.
4. Roll and cut cookies
Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface (about 1 cm thick).
Use a round cutter or glass to cut out circles.
Place cookies onto a lined baking tray.
5. Create a heart indent
Using a finger or the back of a spoon, gently press a heart-shaped indent into the centre of each cookie.
Do not press all the way through the dough.
6. Add gummy bear hearts
Arrange small pieces of gummy bear inside the heart indent to form a heart shape.
Lightly press them into the dough so they stay in place.
7. Bake
Bake at 170°C (fan bake) for 10–12 minutes, until cookies are lightly golden around the edges.
8. Cool
Leave cookies on the tray for 5 minutes.
Transfer to a cooling rack once set.
