• None (just space to play – indoors or outdoors)

Steps

1. Players line up – Two players face each other, about an arm’s length apart.

2. Chant together – Both chant:“Hipitoitoi, hipitoitoi, rika rika rika, rika rika rika, ho!”

3. On ‘ho!’ – Both players quickly show one of three actions with their hands:

   • Flat hand (palm down)

   • Closed fist

   • Pointing finger

4. Scoring –

   • Flat hand beats pointing finger

   • Pointing finger beats closed fist

   • Closed fist beats flat hand

   • If both show the same, it’s a draw.

5. Continue rounds – Keep chanting and playing until one person wins three times in a row.

6. Group play – Can be played in pairs, with winners moving up and losers rotating in, like a mini-tournament
