Holding Hands Friendship Cards

Supplies

  • Coloured A4 card or cardstock (for the base)

  • Coloured paper (for hand shapes)

  • Pencils

  • Scissors

  • Glue sticks

  • Felt pens or markers

  • Optional: stickers, hearts, glitter, washi tape


Steps

  1. Prepare the card baseFold a piece of A4 card in half to create a card.

  2. Trace handsChildren place one hand on coloured paper and trace around it using a pencil.Younger children may need help holding their hand still.

  3. Cut out the handsCarefully cut out the hand shape.For younger children, staff may pre-cut or assist as needed.

  4. Create the ‘holding hands’Glue two hand shapes onto the front of the card so they overlap slightly, making it look like the hands are holding.

  5. DecorateChildren decorate the hands and card using markers, hearts, stickers, or patterns.

  6. Add a friendship messageInside the card, children write or draw a kind message, such as:

    • “Thank you for being my friend”

    • “You are kind”

    • “I like playing with you”
