Supplies Needed:
1. A Playground Ball
2. A Court or Designated Playing Area
Basic Rules:
1. Setting Up the Game: The game requires two or more players. Each player stands in a square, or if only two players are playing, players stand opposite each other.
2. Starting the Game: The first player (the server) starts the game by bouncing the ball once in their square and hitting it towards another square.
3. Keeping the Ball in Play: Players must hit the ball into another player's square after it has bounced once in their own square.
4. Eliminating Players: If a player fails to hit the ball into another square, allows the ball to bounce more than once in their square, hits the ball out of bounds, or hits the ball with a body part other than the hand, they are eliminated from the game or moved to the lowest ranking square.
5. Winning the Game: The last player remaining in the game is the winner.
Additional Rules/Challenges:
1. Multiple Balls: Introduce more than one ball into the game to increase the challenge.
2. Hand Restrictions: Players can only use their non-dominant hand, or perhaps only a certain type of hit (backhand, fist, etc).
3. Boundaries: Change the size or shape of the squares to create new challenges.
4. Movement Rules: Implement rules like players must stay on one foot, or can't move from a certain spot.
5. Time Constraints: Implement a time limit per round, or a shot clock for each hit, to make the game more challenging.
6. Point System: Instead of players being eliminated, they gain points for errors, and the player with the least points at the end wins.
7. Levels: Have different levels of squares. The highest level square could have advantages such as two bounces allowed.
8. Power-ups: If a player manages to perform a certain difficult play (like a one-handed backhand), they can gain a power-up, like an extra life or the ability to make another player swap places.
Remember, safety should always be the first priority, so ensure that all new rules or challenges are safe and appropriate for the age and ability level of the players.
