Kindness Fortune Tellers

Supplies

  • Square paper (origami paper or cut A4 into squares)

  • Felt pens or markers

  • Pencils

  • Optional: stickers, hearts, coloured pencils

Steps

  1. Start with a squareGive each child one square piece of paper.If using A4, staff can pre-cut into squares.

  2. Fold into quarters

    • Fold the paper corner to corner (triangle), then open.

    • Fold corner to corner the other way, then open.

  3. Fold corners to the centre

    • Turn paper so it looks like a diamond.

    • Fold each corner into the centre point to make a smaller square.

  4. Flip and fold again

    • Turn the paper over.

    • Fold each corner into the centre again.

  5. Final fold

    • Fold the square in half one way, then the other.

    • Gently push fingers into the four pockets to shape the fortune teller.

  6. Decorate the outside

    • On the outer flaps, write colours, shapes, or numbers (e.g. red, blue, 1–4).

    • Decorate with hearts or patterns.

  7. Add kindness messages inside

    • Open the flaps and write kindness prompts inside, such as:

      • “Give someone a compliment”

      • “Invite someone new to play”

      • “Help pack up”

      • “Say thank you”

      • “Give a high-five”

      • “Smile at someone”

How to Play

  1. One child holds the fortune teller.

  2. Another child chooses a colour or number.

  3. The holder opens and closes the fortune teller while spelling/counting.

  4. The chooser picks again.

  5. Open the final flap to reveal the kindness action.
