Make your own wand

Supplies:

  • Wooden chopsticks, sticks, or pencils

  • Hot glue gun (with adult supervision)

  • Paint (metallics like gold, silver, black, or purple work well)

  • Glitter, gems, string, or beads

  • Paintbrushes

  • Small containers for paint/glue

  • Newspaper or drop cloth (to protect surfaces)

Steps:

  1. Build the Wand ShapeUse a chopstick or stick as the wand base. Wind hot glue in swirls, spirals, or raised patterns around the top ⅓ of the wand for texture. Let it dry.

  2. Paint the Base CoatOnce glue is dry, paint the entire wand in a base colour (e.g., black, brown, or dark purple). Let it dry completely.

  3. Add Magical DetailsUse metallic paint to highlight the raised glue. You can dry-brush to bring out texture. Add glitter, gems, or small beads for a magical effect.

  4. Final TouchesTie on string, ribbon, or twine at the base or top for added detail. Let everything dry completely before use.

Other Information:

  • Great for: All ages (younger kids may need help with glue)

  • Time: 30–45 minutes including drying time

  • Safety: Adults should handle the hot glue gun for younger children
