Children create their own wearable masks of popular Minecraft mobs (Creeper, Enderman, Pig, Steve/Alex).
Supplies (per child):
Paper plates or square card (to mimic Minecraft blocky faces)
Elastic string or popsicle sticks (to hold mask)
Coloured card/paper (green, black, pink, peach, brown, blue, purple)
Glue sticks, scissors, tape
Black marker pens
Optional: Pre-printed square templates for eyes, mouths, and noses
Steps:
Choose a Mob – Children decide whether to make a Creeper, Enderman, Pig, or Steve/Alex.
Base Plate – Give each child a paper plate or square card as the mask base.
Cut Eye Holes – Staff help cut out square eye holes for visibility.
Add Colour Blocks – Using coloured card, cut and glue small squares to create the pixelated mob face:
Creeper: green base with black square eyes and mouth.
Enderman: black base with purple rectangle eyes.
Pig: pink base with square snout and eyes.
Steve/Alex: peach/tan base with brown hair, blue eyes, mouth.
Attach String/Stick – Punch holes at the sides and tie elastic, or tape on a popsicle stick as a handle.
Show & Wear – Once complete, kids parade their mob masks!
Other Information:
Estimated time: 30–45 minutes.
Works well as a calmer craft activity after high-energy games.
Encourage mixing colours for unique designs (rainbow Creeper, diamond Pig, etc.).
