Supplies Needed
White fabric (cotton or calico works well)
Scissors
Red paper circles OR red fabric paint/marker
Black permanent markers
Glue (if using paper circles)
Rulers (optional, for measuring strips)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 – Cut the Fabric
Cut the white fabric into strips about 8–10 cm wide and 80–100 cm long (long enough to tie around a child’s head).
Each child gets one strip.
Step 2 – Place the Red Circle
Cut or prepare a red circle (about 6–8 cm across).
Use red paper circles, stickers, or fabric paint.
Glue or draw the circle in the centre of the strip.
This represents the Japanese rising sun.
Step 3 – Add the Name
Using a black permanent marker, write the child’s name boldly across the front of the headband, just under or over the red circle.
Kids can add small designs (like stars or lines) if they want to personalise it.
Step 4 – Wear the Headband
Tie the strip around the head with the design at the front.
Tuck in the loose ends at the back for a proper ninja look.
✅ Tips:
Place scrap cardboard under the fabric when decorating to stop markers bleeding through.
Encourage bold, blocky writing for names so they stand out.
Optional: Spray lightly with hairspray to help set the marker ink.
