Supplies:
A4 paper (1–3 sheets per child, plain or coloured)
Markers or crayons for decorating
Measuring tape or cones to mark distances
Large indoor or outdoor space
Steps:
Introduction: Explain to the kids they’ll design, fold, decorate, and fly their own paper planes in a fun competition.
Making the Planes:
Give each child a sheet of paper.
Allow 5–10 minutes for folding and testing their plane design.
Optional: decorate the planes with colours, stripes, or names.
Competition Setup:
Mark a throwing line with tape or chalk.
Use cones or tape marks every metre for measuring.
Throwing Rounds:
Each child gets two throws.
Measure the distance of each throw from the starting line to where the plane lands.
Scoring:
Best throw distance counts as their score.
Optional extra awards for “Longest Flight Time,” “Most Creative Design,” and “Best Trick Flight.”
Wrap-Up:
Celebrate all entries and hand out fun certificates or stickers for winners in each category.
Other Information:
Indoors avoids wind interference, but outdoors is more fun if it’s calm.
Allow extra time for younger children who may need help folding.
