Pipe Cleaner Pencil Toppers

Supplies Needed

  • Pipe cleaners (variety of colours)

  • Pencils or pens

  • Googly eyes (optional)

  • Small pom poms or beads (optional)

  • Glue (PVA or hot glue for older kids/adults to help with)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 – Choose Your Colours

  • Pick 2–3 colourful pipe cleaners for each topper.

Step 2 – Wrap the Base

  1. Take one pipe cleaner and wrap it tightly around the top of the pencil, leaving the eraser or writing tip clear.

  2. This will hold the topper in place.

Step 3 – Add Decorations

  1. Use extra pipe cleaners to twist into fun shapes:

    • Spirals

    • Animal ears

    • Antennae

    • Hearts or stars

  2. Attach shapes by twisting the ends securely around the base wrap.

Step 4 – Finishing Touches

  • Glue on googly eyes, beads, or pom poms to make creatures, bugs, or funky designs.

  • Bend and shape until your topper looks the way you want.

Step 5 – Use and Enjoy!

  • Slip your topper onto a pencil.

  • Swap designs with friends or make a full set of different characters.
