Supplies
Wool/yarn (bright colours work best)
Scissors
Cardboard rings or forks (for wrapping yarn)
Googly eyes (various sizes)
Pipe cleaners (for arms, legs, antennas, etc.)
Craft glue or glue dots
Foam or felt scraps (optional for feet, wings, mouths)
Small cardboard circles (optional for base)
Steps
Make your pom-pom body by wrapping wool around a fork or cardboard ring (about 50–100 wraps depending on size). Carefully slide it off, tie tightly in the centre with another piece of yarn, then cut the loops on both sides. Fluff and trim to shape into a ball.
Let each child choose and glue on googly eyes — one, two, or as many as they like!
Use pipe cleaners to create legs, arms, antennas, tails, or even hair. Twist or curl them for fun shapes and glue them into place.
Add extra features using felt or foam: mouths, wings, horns, or monster feet.
Optional: Glue your monster to a cardboard circle for stability.
Let monsters dry completely before play or display.
Other Information
Encourage children to name their monster and invent a fun backstory.
