"Reasons I Love You" Flower Pot Craft

Supplies

  • Small paper cups or mini pots (real or cardboard)

  • Coloured paper or cardstock (for flower petals)

  • Green pipe cleaners or straws (for stems)

  • Markers or pens

  • Glue or tape

  • Green tissue paper to fill pot

  • Scissors

  • Optional: stickers, sequins, ribbon for decorating pots

Steps

  1. Give each child a pot or paper cup to decorate with stickers, drawings, or a “Happy Mother’s Day” label.

  2. Cut flower shapes out of coloured paper — aim for 3–5 per child (Template below can be printed on colour paper)

  3. On each flower, help the children write one reason they love their mum (There is a "flower ideas" template below which you could print some copies of for the older kids to look at and copy the ones they like onto the flower)

  4. Attach the flowers to green pipe cleaners or straws to make stems.

  5. Fill each pot with tissue paper or paper shreds and arrange the flowers inside like a bouquet.

Other Information

  • This is a great craft to pair with a conversation about gratitude and appreciation.

  • Works well as a display piece or gift for Mother’s Day.

  • You can pre-cut flower shapes for younger children or let older ones create their own.
