Supplies
Craft wire (pipe-gauge wire or jewellery wire works best)
Beads (any size, plastic or wooden)
Bubble mixture (store-bought or DIY)
Scissors or wire cutters
Optional: tape to cover sharp wire ends
Steps
1. Cut the Wire
Cut a piece of wire approx 25–30cm long.(Shorter for small hands, longer for older kids.)
.2. Shape the Bubble Loop
Bend one end into a shape. Popular easy shapes include:
Circle
Heart
Star
Triangle
Twist the wire around itself to secure the loop so it doesn’t move.
3. Make the Handle
Slide beads onto the straight part of the wire.Let kids choose their colours and patterns — the handle should be about 8–10cm of beads.
Tip: Leave 1–2cm of wire at the end to close it.
4. Secure the End
Twist or bend the remaining wire over the last bead to stop them falling off.
If using a slightly sharp wire, wrap the tip with a tiny piece of tape for safety.
5. Test the Wand
Dip the shaped end into bubble mixture and blow or wave the wand through the air.
Encourage kids to try:
Slow sweeping motions
Fast flicks
Different shaped loops to see which makes the best bubbles
