Salt Snowflake Art
Supplies:
Dark-coloured cardstock or construction paper (blue, purple, black work well)
PVA glue (clear or white school glue)
Table salt (cheap bulk salt is perfect)
Watercolour paints or food colouring + water
Paintbrush or pipette
Pencil (optional for drawing snowflake shapes first)
Steps:
Draw the Snowflake (Optional):
Lightly sketch a snowflake design onto your dark paper using pencil. You can use a stencil or go freehand.
Add Glue:
Trace over the pencil lines with a generous line of PVA glue. Be sure the glue is thick enough for salt to stick.
Sprinkle Salt:
Immediately sprinkle salt over the glue lines until completely covered.
Gently tap off the excess salt onto a tray or bin to reuse.
Add Colour:
Using a wet brush or pipette, gently dab watercolour paint or coloured water onto the salt.
Watch the colours spread like magic along the salt lines! (Avoid brushing—just tap.)
Let it Dry:
Lay flat to dry for several hours. Once dry, it’ll have a beautiful raised, sparkly texture.
