Supplies
Thick card or A4 paper (black or dark card works best).
PVA glue or glue sticks.
Coloured sand (use salt dyed with chalk/food colouring).
Spoons or small containers for sprinkling sand.
Pencils for drawing designs.
Steps
Draw the Design
Give each child a piece of card.
Lightly sketch island-inspired patterns (waves, flowers, stars, turtles, canoes, triangles).
Apply the Glue
Trace one section of the design with glue.
Only glue one part at a time so it doesn’t dry before adding sand.
Add Sand
Sprinkle coloured sand over the glue until it’s covered.
Shake off the extra sand onto a tray to reuse.
Repeat with Colours
Continue section by section, using different sand colours for each part of the design.
Dry & Display
Let the artwork dry flat.
Display on a wall or combine pieces for a “Pacific sand mural.”
