Supplies:
Wooden popsicle sticks or bamboo skewers
Black or coloured card
Scissors
Pencil
Glue or tape
Optional: googly eyes, glitter, or metallic pens for decoration
Steps:
Give each child a piece of card and a pencil.
Ask them to draw simple shapes or characters — stars, suns, animals, people, or Diwali symbols like diyas and lotuses.
Cut out the shapes carefully using scissors.
Attach each shape to the top of a popsicle stick or skewer using glue or tape.
(Optional) Decorate the shapes with glitter, metallic pens, or eyes to make them fun and unique.
Once dry, take them outside or hold them up to a torch to cast shadows on a wall or the ground.
Other Information:
Use the sticks later for storytelling or as props in a shadow puppet show.
Works best on a sunny day or with a strong indoor light source.
Great for exploring how shadows change when the light moves!
