Supplies:
Cardboard or thick coloured card
Star template or cookie cutter (Cookie cutters in the supplies onsite)
Scissors
Glue stick or PVA glue
Wooden skewers, chopsticks, or paper straws (for the wand handle)
Wool, ribbon, crepe paper, or tissue paper strips (for tails)
Markers, crayons, or paint
Optional: glitter, sequins, foil, stickers
🪄 Steps:
Make Your Star:
Draw or trace a star shape onto cardboard or thick card.
Cut it out carefully. You can also cut out two stars to glue together with the stick in between for a double-sided wand.
Decorate the Star:
Use paint, markers, or crayons to colour your star.
Add glitter, foil, or stickers for sparkle.
For younger children, pre-cut stars and let them focus on decorating.
Attach the Shooting Tails:
Cut 3–5 long strips of ribbon, wool, or tissue paper.
Glue or tape them to the bottom point of the star so they hang down like a trail.
Add the Wand Stick:
Tape or glue a wooden skewer, paper straw, or stick to the back of the star.
If using two stars, sandwich the stick between them and glue both stars together.
Let It Dry:
Leave the wand flat until fully dry before waving it around.
✨ Other Tips:
Group activity idea: Create a “wishing wand station” where kids write a dream or goal on the back of the star.
Safety tip: If using skewers for young children, cut off or cover the sharp end with blu tack or tape.
