Supplies
White socks rolled into pairs to create soft “snowballs” (about 10–20 depending on group size)
A large open space (hall or field)
Optional: cones to mark boundaries
Set Up
Roll white socks into tight pairs so they form soft, safe snowballs.
Scatter the snowballs around the play area.
Define clear boundaries so children know where they can play.
How to Play
Choose 2–3 Taggers
These players start with a snowball each.
Start the Game
When the game begins, taggers try to tag other players by gently throwing the sock snowballs at them.
If You Get Hit
A player is “hit” if a snowball touches any part of their body.
When hit, they freeze in place with their hands up like a snowman.
How to Get Unfrozen
Another player must run over and perform a simple task to free them, such as:
A high-five
Saying “Merry Christmas!”
Doing a star jump together
Snowball Switch
When a tagger hits someone, they must drop their snowball on the ground.
The tagged/frozen player picks up the snowball and becomes the new tagger once they unfreeze.
Play Continues
Game runs until time is up or until everyone has had a turn being a tagger.
Safety Notes
Emphasise soft, gentle throws only.
No aiming for faces.
