Supplies
1–3 small wet sponges(Or use water spray bottles set to “stream” for older groups)
Cones/chalk to mark the play area (optional)
1. Choose the Tagger
One player starts as “The Splasher.”
They hold the wet sponge.
2. Objective
The Splasher tries to tag other players by lightly touching them with the wet sponge.
3. When You’re Tagged
A player is “splashed” if the sponge leaves any water mark on them.
You can choose one of the following versions (both work great):
Version A – Freeze
Tagged player freezes in place.
They can be freed if another player crawls under their legs / high fives them.
Version B – Become the New Tagger
Whoever gets splashed becomes the next Splasher instantly, swapping roles.
4. Boundaries
Stay inside the marked area.
If someone leaves the area, they are automatically splashed.
5. Ending the Game
Play for 3–5 minutes per round.
Rotate taggers to keep everyone involved.
Safety Rules
Sponge must be used gently — no throwing at faces.
No pushing, grabbing, or tackling.
Kids must walk if the ground gets slippery.
Staff supervise the water use and keep refills minimal to avoid hazards.
Extra Fun Variations
💦 Multiple Splashers
2–3 taggers make the game faster & high-energy.
🎯 Sponge Shot
Place a bucket in the middle. If a player gets splashed, they must run and do one sponge squeeze into the bucket before rejoining.
