Supplies:
Tape, chalk, or cones to mark a starting line
Measuring tape or metre ruler
Open space indoors (hall/gym) or outdoors (grass or asphalt)
Steps:
Mark a clear starting line with tape, chalk, or cones.
Have children line up behind the starting line.
One at a time, each child takes a big leap forward from the line, shouting “Tra-La-Laa!” as they jump.
Measure from the starting line to the back of their heel where they land.
Record distances for each player.
Continue until everyone has had at least two jumps.
The winner is the child with the longest jump.
Other Information:
Allow a practice jump round to get them warmed up.
For younger children, you can measure only by “paces” instead of centimetres for speed.
Add fun categories like “Biggest Tra-La-Laa,” “Silliest Jump,” or “Best Superhero Landing.”
