Supplies
3–5 soft foam balls (avoid hard balls for safety).
Cones or markers to outline the playing area.
How to Play
Set Up the Court
Mark a rectangular playing area with a centre line.
Split the group into 2 teams, one on each side of the line.
Start the Game
Place the balls in the centre.
On the signal, players rush to grab balls and throw them at the opposing team.
Rules
A player is out if they are hit below the shoulders with a ball.
If a player catches a ball before it hits the ground, the thrower is out.
Players who are out go to the sideline but can return if their team catches a ball (optional rule).
Game Flow
Play until one team has no players left.
Restart quickly with new rounds.
Tongan Twist (Optional)
Add a cultural element: before each round, teams can chant something simple like “Mate ma’a Tonga!” (Die for Tonga – a common Tongan cheer in rugby).
Encourages teamwork and spirit.
Other Information
Keep games short (3–5 minutes) to keep energy high.
Remind kids head shots don’t count for safety.
Works well indoors or outdoors.
