(Inspired by Matilda and Miss Trunchbull’s love of athletics)
Supplies:
Soft, lightweight balls or beanbags (one per player) — can be foam, fabric, or even rolled-up socks for safety
Measuring tape or cones for marking distances
Clear space outdoors or in a large hall
Steps:
Mark a throwing line with tape, chalk, or cones.
Give each player one ball/beanbag (“shot put”).
Players take turns standing behind the line and “throwing” their shot put as far as they can — using the traditional shot put push from the chest or an underarm throw.
Measure the distance from the line to where the shot put first lands.
Record distances for each player.
The winner is the player with the farthest throw.
