Supplies
Water guns (any size)
Buckets or tubs for refilling
Targets such as:
Plastic cups
Army men
Toy dinosaurs (from last week!)
Ping pong balls
Empty drink bottles
Sponges stuck to a fence
Chalk-drawn targets on concrete
Cones or chalk to mark the shooting line
Steps
1. Set Up Targets
Create a “target zone” by arranging objects at different distances:
Close range: army men, toy dinosaurs, ping pong balls
Medium range: plastic cups on their sides or stacked
Long range: empty drink bottles, chalk targets drawn on a wall or fence
The variety keeps kids engaged and gives them easy + challenging options.
2. Mark the Shooting Line
Use cones, chalk, or a rope.Kids must stand behind the line when shooting.
To support mixed ages:
Younger kids can step closer.
Older kids must stay behind the main line.
3. Explain the Rules
Only point water guns at targets, not people.
Refill guns at the refill station only.
One turn = 10–15 seconds or until they knock down 3 targets (your choice).
After their turn, they go to the back of the line.
4. Start Shooting!
Let kids take turns blasting water at the targets.Staff can reset targets in between rounds.
5. Optional Ways to Play
🎯 Points Game
Small targets: 3 points
Medium targets: 2 points
Large targets: 1 pointKids tally their score after each round.
🏆 Team Challenge: Teams rotate shooters. First team to reach a set score wins.
💨 Timed Knockdown can knock down the most targets in 30 seconds?
Other Information
Avoid slippery areas—concrete or grass is best.
Provide towels or encourage kids to wear togs if it’s hot.
Great activity for hot afternoons; pair with a water break between rounds.
Staff should monitor water pressure for safety (most kids’ guns are low-pressure).
