Supplies:
A flat, grassy or gym area with enough space for a start and finish line
Cones or markers to set up lanes (optional)
Steps:
Pair Up PlayersDivide the children into pairs. One child will be the "wheelbarrow" and the other the "driver."
Get in Position
The "wheelbarrow" gets into a plank position (hands on the ground, body straight).
The "driver" stands behind them and gently lifts the "wheelbarrow’s" legs at the ankles.
Line UpAll pairs line up at the start line. Make sure there's enough space between each team.
Race Time!On “Go!”, the drivers guide the wheelbarrows across the finish line as fast as they can. The wheelbarrow walks on their hands while the driver holds their legs up and steers.
Switch Roles (Optional)Once they reach the end, they can switch roles and race back for a round two.
Other Information:
If you have younger kids, have the "driver" hold the legs at the knees instead of the ankles for more support.
For safety, remind kids to move slowly and avoid falling forward.
This can be done as a fun race, a timed challenge, or even a relay if you have a large group.
