Group Size:
8 or more players (works great with large groups)
Supplies:
Open space (field, hall, or court)
2 marked lines or cones to show each team’s starting point (approx. 1 metre apart)
2 additional lines further back as safe zones (approx. 5–10m behind each team)
Set-Up:
Split the Group:Divide players into two even teams — one team is Witches, the other Wizards.
Line Up:Each team lines up facing the other, about 1 metre apart (close enough to reach quickly).
Mark Safe Zones:Behind each team, mark a safe line (this is where players must run to avoid being tagged).
How to Play:
Ready, Listen, React!A staff member calls out either “Witches!” or “Wizards!” at random.
Run or Chase:
If your team name is called, you are the taggers.
The other team must turn and run to their safe line to avoid being tagged.
Tagging:If someone is tagged before they reach their safe line, they switch teams and join the taggers' side.
Repeat Rounds:Reset the lines and call again. Continue until all players are on one team, or time is up.
Tips & Variations:
Start slow, then speed up the calls to increase intensity.
Use magic words instead of names, like “Potions!” for Witches and “Spells!” for Wizards.
Play “best of 5” rounds or use music for dramatic effect.
