Supplies:
6 popsicle sticks per star
Wool or yarn
Glue (PVA or hot glue gun)
Scissors
Optional: string for hanging or decorations like glitter or sequins
Steps:
Glue the Base:
Glue 3x popsicle sticks in a triangle shape and glue them together at the centre. Do this twice, then glue the two triangls together to make a star
Let it dry completely before weaving.
Start the Weave:
Tie the end of your first colour of wool around the centre where the sticks meet.
Begin wrapping the wool around the star until it is covered
Changing Colours:
When you want to switch colours, tie the new wool to the end of the old one with a small knot and keep wrapping as before.
Try blending colours for a sunset, rainbow, or galaxy effect!
Finishing the Star:
When your weaving reaches near the end of the popsicle sticks, tie off the wool securely on one stick.
Tuck or glue the end down at the back to stop it from unravelling.
Add a Hanger (Optional):
Cut a small piece of string or wool and tie it to one stick end to create a loop for hanging.
✨ Other Tips:
Younger kids may prefer using fewer wraps for a looser star look.
Older children can experiment with symmetry or weaving patterns.
