Alien Cupcakes

Supplies:
1½ cups self-raising flour
½ cup sugar
125g butter (softened)
2 eggs
½ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
Green food colouring
Buttercream icing (see below)
Googly eye lollies or white chocolate buttons and chocolate chips
Sprinkles (optional)
Piping bag or spoon
Buttercream Icing:
125g butter (softened)
2 cups icing sugar
1–2 tbsp milk
Green food colouring
Steps:
Prepare the Batter:
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a muffin tray with 12 cupcake cases.
Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix in vanilla essence.
Gently fold in the self-raising flour and milk, alternating between the two until combined.
Add a few drops of green food colouring to make your alien base colour.
Bake:
Spoon mixture evenly into cupcake cases.
Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden and a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
Cool completely before decorating.
Make the Icing:
Beat butter until pale and creamy.
Gradually add icing sugar, then milk, until fluffy.
Tint with green food colouring.
Decorate:
Pipe or spread the green icing over each cupcake.
Add googly eyes (use white chocolate buttons and chocolate chips if preferred).
Decorate with sprinkles or create alien faces using writing icing.
Serve and Enjoy:
Arrange your cupcakes on a tray to make a fun “alien invasion” display!
