BISCUIT STACK CHALLENGE

Goal:Teams must build the tallest freestanding biscuit tower they can within a time limit using only the supplies provided.
Ideal Group Size:
2–5 children per team
You can run multiple teams at once or rotate in rounds if space is limited
Duration:
Setup: 5 minutes
Challenge time: 5 minutes
Judging + tidy-up: 5–10 minutes
Supplies per team:
10–15 plain round biscuits (e.g. Superwine, Arrowroot, Krispie – cheap and stackable)
Small bowl of icing "glue" (thick mixture of icing sugar and water, or icing sugar and butter)
Plastic knife or spoon for spreading
Paper plate or napkin for their base
Paper towels for cleanup
Optional: Give each team a few bonus items like marshmallows or pretzels to add creativity to their structure.
Set-Up:
Pre-portion biscuit sets and icing bowls for each team.
Give a quick demo: show how to spread icing and stack safely.
Remind kids that the tower must stand on its own with no outside support.
Challenge Rules:
Teams have 5 minutes to build the tallest possible freestanding tower.
Only use what’s provided — no licking, biting, or extra glue.
Hands must be off the tower once the timer ends.
If it falls during judging, the height before the fall is recorded.
Judging Criteria:
Height (use a tape measure or ruler)
Creativity (optional bonus points)
Teamwork (bonus points for collaboration)

Encourage kids to help wipe tables and return tools
