Crown Cookies

Ingredients for sugar cookies:
225g unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1½ teaspoons vanilla essence
2¾ cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
Mixing bowls and utensils
Electric beater or whisk
Rolling pins and cookie cutters (any shapes)
Baking trays and parchment paper
Coloured icing (pre-made or homemade)
Sprinkles, edible glitter, bright-coloured decorations
Aprons (optional)
Access to an oven
Steps
Preheat the oven to 180°C fan bake (or 190°C conventional).
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla essence, mixing until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix to form a dough.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1cm thick.
Use cookie cutters to create Crown shapes
Place cookies on a lined tray and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are just golden.
Allow cookies to cool completely before decorating.
Set up a decorating station with bright icing colours, sprinkles, and edible glitter.
