Sprinkles
Crushed biscuits
Mini chocolate chips
Coconut
Freeze-dried fruit pieces
Rice bubbles
Supplies
Freezer
Baking paper
Tray or plate
Bowls for toppings
Butter knife for spreading yoghurt/chocolate
Steps
1. Prep the Bananas
Peel the bananas.
Cut each banana in half (or into thirds for smaller pops).
Insert a popsicle stick about halfway into each piece.
Staff tip: Twist gently as you push so the banana doesn’t split.
2. Dip or Spread the Coating
Choose one of these:
🍌 Yoghurt Coating
Use thick Greek yoghurt or flavoured yoghurt.
Spread yoghurt over the banana with a knife OR dip the banana in the bowl.
🍫 Chocolate Coating
Melt chocolate in the microwave in 20-second bursts.
Let it cool slightly so it’s not too hot.
Dip or spoon the chocolate over the banana.
3. Add Toppings
Roll or sprinkle toppings onto the coated banana.
Kids can choose:
Rainbow sprinkles
Choc chips
Coconut
Crushed biscuits
Rice bubbles
Freeze-dried strawberries
Let them customise their own treat!
4. Freeze
Place all banana pops onto a baking-paper-lined tray.
Freeze for at least 2 hours, or until fully frozen.
For best results: freeze 3–4 hours or overnight.
5. Serve
Remove from freezer and enjoy straight away. They melt quickly in summer — perfect afternoon tea treat!
