Frozen Banana Pops


Ingredients

  • 4–6 bananas (ripe but firm)

  • Wooden popsicle sticks or small skewers

  • 1–2 cups yoghurt or melted chocolate (white, milk, or dark)

  • Toppings such as:

    • Sprinkles

    • Crushed biscuits

    • Mini chocolate chips

    • Coconut

    • Freeze-dried fruit pieces

    • Rice bubbles

Supplies

  • Freezer

  • Baking paper

  • Tray or plate

  • Bowls for toppings

  • Butter knife for spreading yoghurt/chocolate

Steps

1. Prep the Bananas

  1. Peel the bananas.

  2. Cut each banana in half (or into thirds for smaller pops).

  3. Insert a popsicle stick about halfway into each piece.

Staff tip: Twist gently as you push so the banana doesn’t split.

2. Dip or Spread the Coating

Choose one of these:

🍌 Yoghurt Coating

  • Use thick Greek yoghurt or flavoured yoghurt.

  • Spread yoghurt over the banana with a knife OR dip the banana in the bowl.

🍫 Chocolate Coating

  • Melt chocolate in the microwave in 20-second bursts.

  • Let it cool slightly so it’s not too hot.

  • Dip or spoon the chocolate over the banana.

3. Add Toppings

Roll or sprinkle toppings onto the coated banana.

Kids can choose:

  • Rainbow sprinkles

  • Choc chips

  • Coconut

  • Crushed biscuits

  • Rice bubbles

  • Freeze-dried strawberries

Let them customise their own treat!

4. Freeze

  • Place all banana pops onto a baking-paper-lined tray.

  • Freeze for at least 2 hours, or until fully frozen.

For best results: freeze 3–4 hours or overnight.

5. Serve

Remove from freezer and enjoy straight away.They melt quickly in summer — perfect afternoon tea treat!
