Fudge packs (with special person notes)


Supplies/Ingredients:

  • 3 cups white sugar

  • 1 cup milk

  • 125g butter

  • 1 Tbsp golden syrup

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 200g sweetened condensed milk (½ a standard tin)

  • 2 tsp vanilla essence


Steps:

  1. Prepare the Tray

    • Grease and line a 20cm square baking tin with baking paper.

  2. Combine Ingredients

    • In a large saucepan, add sugar, milk, butter, golden syrup, and salt.

    • Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the butter melts.

  3. Boil the Mixture

    • Add condensed milk.

    • Bring to the boil, stirring often.

    • Reduce heat to a gentle boil and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring regularly to stop it burning.

  4. Test for Readiness

    • Drop a little into cold water — if it forms a soft ball, it’s ready.

    • Or check with a sugar thermometer (should reach about 116°C “soft ball” stage).

  5. Beat the Fudge

    • Remove from heat, add vanilla.

    • Cool slightly, then beat with a wooden spoon until it thickens and loses gloss.

  6. Set

    • Pour into prepared tin. Smooth the top.

    • Leave until fully cool and set, then cut into small squares.


Gifting Step:

  1. Place cooled fudge squares into little cellophane bags .

  2. Attach the printed thankyou note (these were dropped off with planning) with string, ribbon, or tape.

  3. Send home for children to gift to their dad or another special person.
