Supplies
For the cake:
1 large mixing bowl
Wooden spoon or whisk
Measuring cups and spoons
20cm round cake tin or muffin tray
Baking paper or spray oil
For decorating:
Butter knife or spatula
Spoons for spreading and drizzling
Bowls for toppings
Basic Vanilla Cake Recipe (Makes 1 round cake or 12 cupcakes)
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups self-raising flour
½ cup sugar
125g butter (softened)
2 eggs
½ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
Steps:
Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan bake).
Grease your cake tin or line it with baking paper.
In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
Stir in vanilla essence.
Sift in the flour and gently mix with a spoon.
Add milk gradually and mix until smooth.
Pour into the prepared tin.
Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden and a skewer comes out clean.
Cool completely before decorating.
Cool Decorating Ideas
1. Rainbow Fun
Use ready-made white icing or whip your own with icing sugar + a bit of butter and milk.
Add drops of food colouring to make different colours.
Use a spoon to swirl colours on top.
Top with rainbow sour straps or mini marshmallows.

2. Sprinkle Explosion
Cover the cake with icing and press hundreds & thousands all over.
Create patterns or leave it wild!

3. Garden Theme
Use green-tinted coconut or icing as "grass."
Decorate with jelly worms, flower lollies, or butterflies.

4. Animal Faces
Use lollies (e.g., licorice, Smarties, marshmallows) to make a face.
Add ears using cut fruit or biscuits.

5. Drip Icing or Ganache
Melt 100g of chocolate + 50ml of cream.
Spoon it over the top and let it drip down the sides.
