Scavenger hunt

Instructions:
Give each child (or pair/group) a clipboard, pen, and the scavenger hunt list.
They can either tick off the items they see or collect small, safe items if allowed.
Add a time limit for extra excitement!
Find Something That…
Is round
Is soft
Is your favourite colour
Makes a sound
Has writing on it
Could be used to build something
Smells nice
Fits in your pocket
Has more than one colour
Starts with the letter “S”
Is shaped like a square or rectangle
You’ve never noticed before
Is smaller than your hand
Is taller than you
Reminds you of your favourite season
You can count
Could be part of a costume
Is cold or cool to touch
Has an interesting texture
Could be used in a game
Extensions & Variations:
Alphabet Challenge: Find one item for every letter of the alphabet.
Team Hunt: Split into groups—first group to find 10 wins!
Photo Hunt: Use tablets or phones to take a photo of each item instead of collecting them.
Creative Twist: After the hunt, kids choose 3–5 items and create a story or drawing using them.
Calm Version: Use it as a mindfulness walk, encouraging slow observation and quiet exploration.
