HP Plan: Christmas Bake Off

Goal: A fun, hands-on baking competition where kids work in teams or individually to create and present a baked item.

1. Welcome & Briefing

• Introduce the theme: “Christmas Bake Off!”

• Explain safety rules (hot items, food hygiene, clean hands).

• Go over the judging criteria:

  • Creativity

  • Teamwork

  • Presentation

  • Taste

2. Bake Time!

• Kids are split into three groups

• Each group has a station with ingredients and utensils.

• The group completes their activity at the station and moves to the next. Stations are - Gingerbread House decorations (Kits available), Christmas Cookies, No-bake Christmas Slice

• The children will complete two stations before lunch and one after lunch

• Staff float between stations offering guidance, managing safety, and helping with tricky steps.

• If using an oven, stagger baking time or pre-bake bases for decorating.

  
  

4. Judging Panel

Options:

• Kids vote (not for their own team).

• Staff judge with positive feedback for everyone.

• Silly awards: “Best Use of Sprinkles,” “Most Creative,” “Tidiest Bakers,” etc.

  
  

5. Tidy Up & Tasting

• Everyone helps clean their area.

• Sit down together to enjoy the creations.

• Take photos for parents.

  
  

Staff Tips

• One staff member joins each team and remains with the team and helps the team, and ensures safety, fun and hygiene!
